A salon’s marketing budget is often exactly zero euros — and yet the difference between a full calendar and a quiet one is rarely about money. These seven tactics cost only time.
1. Before–after is the industry’s best ad
No ad copy sells a colour service like a good before–after pair. Ask permission, shoot in the same light and angle, publish consistently. Three quality photos a week is enough.
2. Rebook before the customer leaves
"Shall we set your next appointment for six weeks from now?" is the most profitable single sentence a stylist can say. Lifting your rebooking rate from 30% to 50% beats any campaign.
3. Google profile and directories in order
Most new customers search Google. Make sure your category, photos, services and hours are right — and that your details match across directories. A wrong Saturday opening time costs you exactly the customer who would have come on Saturday.
4. Quiet-hour offers, aimed correctly
Don’t discount across the board — target: "Tuesdays 10–14, cuts −20%". You fill empty hours without eating prime-time margin.
5. Local partnerships
The florist, café and gym on your street serve the same people. Cross-recommendations, a joint giveaway, each other’s gift cards at the till — zero-budget visibility for both.
6. Reply to every review
Replies are read by thousands, not just the reviewer. Thank by name, mention the service — short is fine.
7. Be findable everywhere with the same details
Instagram, Google, directories, your own site: same name, same number, same hours. Obvious — and still the most common gap we see in Finnish salons.
